Project 1_Cynthia Galvez

In class assignment

Artist

Lez Rucinski is the artist of these scans. He scans his items in a dark room with the lid open. He uses photoshop to clean up the background and really focus on pushing the object forward and the background back. This really pushed the 3 dimensional look of the objects. I find these pieces interesting because when I think of flowers and plants, I think of life and happiness. The way these images portray plants is different. These images make me think of death and gloominess. It has a sense of calmness to it.

My Scans

For my scans, I used plants from my dorm and that I found around campus. I also borrows some classmates bugs and magazine cut outs. We used out phones to pull up famous paintings and draged them across the scanner.
    My Project

My Idea

For my project, I want to create a collage about pollution. One side of the collage will be a rainforest background with a waterfall and half of a live tree. I will add scans and images of plants. The other side of the collage with have a background of factories. There will be a brown polluted waterfall and piles of trash. There will be half of a dead tree with trash. I will add scans and images of dead plants.

My Images

Here are a couple of images I will be using for my collage. The first two are images I found online while the second two are scans we did in class.

My Progress

Here are some more images I want to use that I took myself. All of these photos are landscape pictures of different seasons and different locations.

This is my progress so far. I still need more photos but once I add them, I want to use different tools on photoshop to create different affects in my collage.

My progress

I added all of my pictures. I have exactly 20. Now I am working on trying to add different effects.

I struggled to use the effect tools. I was only able to figure out the brush tool so I added lines connecting the images to each other and I used colors from those images.
