Project 1_Kamari_Sannography Artist
Stephanie Sierou-Aarten is an artist who discovered scannography by complete accident which I find really interesting. They incorporate a lot of movement into their work which really drew my attention because I like how the futuristic/sci-fi aesthetic they unintentionally take on. The distorted blurred colors
I had literally no clue what I wanted to do. I thought if I started throwing things at the wall, something would stick, but unfortunately it did not. I attempted this project a grand total of three times, and this is the result I'm actually the happiest with. I think starting with a background instead of a blank, overwhelming background was most definitely the move. I took a magic eraser and took out some fun details of the building, then I took one of my scanned images and placed it underneath. Then I started thinking about what Idea I wanted, and my gut instinct was to go with like, common dream elements or nightmares. Have you dreamed this man, and teeth falling out and flying were all important to me. I also tried to use colors associated with dreams and dream studies since it all seems like a barely cohesive blur. I created a clipping mask for the sky and teeth, placing a scanned image in each.
