At first, my process for this project was to go for a more abstract style that included nature elements. However, when I started piecing together my scans, I began to see objects such as mountains. When I saw this, I went in the direction to create some sort of landscape. Overall, my meaning of the piece isn't too deep but I wanted to portray the idea of dreams. To explain further, my dreams tend to be more weird and tend to blur the lines between reality and fantasy, hence why the night part of the landscape is more abstract than the part where the sun is.

I scanned a couple of flower hair pins, butterfly hair pins, a piece of string, and 2 keychains. I moved the items with my hands down the scanner to create the effects shown above.

The artist who made these pieces is Richard Rownak. His subject of his scantography work mostly consist of flowers. Rownak explained that the flower is a "...symbol of beauty and delicateness.." which is loved by many. His technique is to capture his subjects with a multi-exposure effect using 35mm on a medium format film. I really enjoyed his work because of the bright and colorful flower subjects.
