Project1_Malaya

 

An artist that I found is Hercilia Lopes, she works with jewels, ornaments, veils, silks, and women’s clothes along with metal in her work. This is one of my favorite pieces because it has mostly red and silver tones and a pop of blue to define the invisible line of the neck. This is something that I was thinking of doing for my project but with elements.

Week 1

I started off with a random outline-ish picture to build off of because there was a certain look I wanted it to have. Next I started on the eyes because they are my favorite part, the whites of the eyes are made of clouds and bit of blue sky, with the iris's being dirt and the pupil a leaf. From there I went on to do the skin which is made out of sand, which I liked how in the process of covering the the face some of the texture got smooth, and in other parts you can see the texture poking through. I added some shading which is also made of sand around the neck and nose to define those areas. The hair is made out of grass that had a bush shape, and a single vine to use as loose strands, I thought it would be difficult to make it look like hair, but luckily I didn't have to do much.After that I added one of my scanner pictures which was my hands, and I knew I wanted them to overlap over the hair. I wanted to finish the face before I got to the background so for the eyebrows I put a metal texture over, I put water droplets as freckles (which didn't turn out the way I though it would but I made it work), for the eyeliner I put lava, and for the lips honey and glass( since the honey was in a glass). I then added more from my scanner which was the tiny knife, I made so it went across the picture, and in the top corner almost as if it got burned into the background. The background was a mystery for me because i knew I wanted it to be a galaxy but I didn't wanted to just be that in case it got muddy in a few places taking away from it, so on the left I put a AI made picture that I got from typing my name and the right a galaxy. As you can see in the middle I mixed them a little bit.
