Digital Art_ Katie Reel
Digital art to me is an extension of traditional art onto something that is not apart of something organic and can be sent virtually to those around us. I used window browsers with multiple tabs open to show how we are also connected to it and how it may be a part of us.
As someone who is usually on technology all the time it was nice but also a little stressful to be off. During that time I worked on a coloring book of mine and also practiced some art skills and did some sketches for another class of mine. I usually like to keep my hands busy and myself busy while Im on my own and what not. I also tried to figure out how the glitching effect may look or work without seeing a reference.
There was also a feeling of withdrawal and what not (Im ashamed to say) because usually I am doing work on my lap top and communicate with my family through my phone. My phone also has all of my assignments that I need to get done and lets me know what I need to have ready for tomorrow. But it was nice to shut off all the noise and get away from media and technology as well. It reminded me that there are still things I can do without my laptop and phone as well. The drawing below is what I experimented with and the glitching effect and the sense of withdrawal from technology as well.
